WW Students Developing Skills Through Play!

WW Students Developing Skills Through Play!

This week at Walt Whitman, physical education students are honing their basketball shooting skills, emphasizing proper form using the BEEF acronym: Bend/Balance, Eyes, Elbows, and Follow through. Activities integrate other subjects, like math and literacy. In 'Make it, Roll it,' students roll dice after successful shots, calculating points based on shot location, combining basketball with math. 'Basketball Scrabble' challenges students to form words by collecting letters earned with each basket, with the number of letters determined by shooting position. Students rotate through roles like shooting, scorekeeping, and word building, ensuring active participation. The accompanying pictures showcase the WW PE team in action.
