Wolverines Jump for Joy: Walt Whitman Elementary Raises Over $3,900 for Kids Heart Challenge!

Woodbury, NY (May 7, 2025) - The spirit of giving and healthy hearts was evident at Walt Whitman Elementary School as our annual Jump Rope for Heart event proved to be a resounding success. This year, the dedicated school community rallied together to raise an impressive $3,925.80 for the American Heart Association's Kids Heart Challenge!

The fundraising efforts, which culminated in a fun-filled jumping session on Wednesday, May 7th, saw enthusiastic participation from students in grades kindergarten through fifth. The event took place bright and early in the school gymnasium, where the rhythmic beat of jump ropes filled the air as students skipped, hopped, and laughed together.

Throughout the fundraising period, the Walt Whitman Student Council officers played a vital role in educating their peers and the wider school community. They thoughtfully shared important information about the cornerstones of a healthy lifestyle, including the benefits of regular exercise, sufficient sleep, proper nutrition, and staying well-hydrated.

The Jump Rope for Heart event itself was a high-energy affair, providing a fantastic opportunity for students to get active while supporting a worthy cause. The morning concluded with a calming mindful breathing exercise, setting a positive and focused tone for the school day ahead.

The success of this year's Jump Rope for Heart event at Walt Whitman Elementary underscores the school's commitment to both the physical well-being and philanthropic spirit of its students. The funds raised will contribute directly to the American Heart Association's vital work in supporting research, education, and advocacy for children's heart health. The Walt Whitman community has once again demonstrated their big hearts and their ability to make a meaningful impact.
