Walt Whitman’s Makerspace: Building Landmarks and Coding New Paths

Walt Whitman’s Makerspace: Building Landmarks and Coding New Paths

In the Spring students enjoy hands-on activities in the library. Students work on makerspace projects and robotics. We pair literature and research with creativity and group work. This month students researched landmarks and worked in groups to create their own buildings using Keva Planks.

Our younger students began to code Beebots to practice their reading and math skills. The Bee-Bot provides an interactive and hands-on experience that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and computational thinking.

The older students code with Ozobots. These small robots make programming interactive and fun, encouraging collaboration among students. Students learn, experiment, and debug all while learning and having fun!
