Walt Whitman's First Graders: A Scrapbook Project on How Our Families Grow and Change

Walt Whitman's First Graders: A Scrapbook Project on How Our Families Grow and Change

Our first grade students are learning about how families can be the same and different, and how they change over time. As part of this unit, we are working on a special scrapbook project that students will share with families during our Curriculum Celebration in April. Through this project, students are identifying and recognizing members of their families, exploring family traditions, and creating simple timelines to understand how families grow and change.

They are also sharing meaningful memories, photos, and important events, while learning that every family is unique and special. This experience helps students build a sense of identity, belonging, and appreciation for the diversity in our classroom community.
