πŸŽͺ Walt Whitman Elementary School Runs Away with the Circus! πŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ

WOODBURY, NY – December 12, 2025 – For one spectacular week, the ordinary gymnasium of Walt Whitman Elementary School were transformed into a three-ring circus, culminating today in an unforgettable showcase of student talent. "Circus Week" officially wrapped up this afternoon with a stunning performance by the fifth-grade class, who dazzled the younger students with newly acquired acrobatic and juggling skills. This incredible experience was made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Walt Whitman PTA, who brought The National Circus Project to the school. The National Circus Project is an organization specializing in educational outreach, serving as an arts-in-education program, a physical education external program, and a cultural arts external program. The week kicked off with a truly spectacular opening show that gave students a thrilling taste of the circus arts they would soon be mastering.

During their regular Physical Education (PE) time, all the students had the exciting opportunity to try out everything they saw in the initial performance. The gym was abuzz with activity as kids moved between stations dedicated to various circus disciplines, including juggling, stilt walking, plate spinning, diablo throwing, balancing acts, hula hooping, devil stick performing, and clown school.

The grand finale arrived on Friday, December 12th, with the fifth graders stepping into the spotlight. They put on a special show for the students in the younger grades, performing acts that showcased the remarkable skills they had refined throughout the week—and in some cases, over the years. As the fifth graders performed, they were greeted with cheers and enthusiastic applause, filling the gymnasium with an atmosphere of pure joy and celebration. Even the school’s beloved Physical Education teachers got in on the action, joining in for a rousing juggling collaboration that drew appreciative smiles and cheers from the audience. Circus Week proved to be more than just a fun break from routine; it was a powerful lesson in coordination, practice, and the joy of performance, leaving students and staff alike with unforgettable memories.
