Music In Our Schools Month

This March, we are proud to celebrate Music In Our Schools Month! Starting next week, students will participate in a variety of fun activities centered around this year’s inspiring theme: "United through Music." We look forward to exploring how music brings our community together all month long.

NYSSMA Solo Festival
Best of luck to our dedicated Band, Orchestra, Chorus, and Piano students! They are entering the final stages of preparation for the NYSSMA Piano Festival, taking place on March 13th and 14th at Jericho High School and the NYSSMA Solo Festival, taking place on March 18th and 19th at Oyster Bay High School.

Our musicians have been working on their scales, solo pieces, and sight-reading skills to perform for professional adjudication. We are so proud of your hard work!

Save the Date: Spring Concerts
The countdown to our spring performances has officially begun! Please mark your calendars for these upcoming celebrations:
Spring Concert: May 12th at H.B. Thompson
Featuring: Junior Band, Senior Band, Advanced Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, and Chorus.
3rd Grade Celebration: May 15th at Walt Whitman.
Featuring: Third Grade Orchestra

A Note on Rehearsals: To ensure our ensembles sound their best, please make sure your child attends all early morning rehearsals. Consistency is key to a successful performance!

General Music Update
Our students are making music and building skills in General Music classes through engaging activities like Boomwhackers and bucket drumming.
Boomwhackers & Bucket Drums: These hands-on instruments are more than just fun! They are instrumental in:
Improving motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and rhythmic proficiency.
Fostering teamwork and cognitive development.
Reducing stress and anxiety.

Ukulele Club  Some of our first graders are participating in the Ukulele Club. This popular, four-stringed instrument, originally from Portugal and popularized in Hawaii, is a fun and exciting way for our youngest musicians to explore a new instrument.
