Walt Whitman: A Snowy Sendoff Before Winter Break!

Walt Whitman: A Snowy Sendoff Before Winter Break!

The day before Winter Break brought a little extra magic to our school community! As students arrived that morning, they were greeted in the main lobby by teachers and staff who welcomed them with a joyful sing-along of winter-themed songs. Adding to the fun, staff members tossed fake snow into the air as students walked through—creating a festive, laughter-filled start to the day.

In a fun twist of fate, this celebration marked one of the rare times students experienced two snow events at once: snow falling outside and snowflakes floating inside! Our fifth graders, veterans of many school traditions, provided some comic relief—many cleverly pulled their sweatshirts over their heads to avoid having “snow” in their hair for the rest of the day.

The excitement continued throughout the building as members of our Orchestra took part in their traditional roving musicians’ concerts. Moving from space to space, students performed familiar holiday and winter selections, filling the hallways with music and spreading cheer to classrooms and common areas alike.

It was a joyful and memorable way to send our students into Winter Break—one that captured the spirit of community, creativity, and fun that makes our school such a special place.
