A Flurry of Talent: Walt Whitman Elementary's Winter Concert Delights

Walt Whitman Elementary School recently hosted its annual Winter Concert, a truly heartwarming event that featured the exceptional talents of the Chamber Orchestra, Advanced Orchestra, Senior Chorus, and Senior Band. This special daytime performance was held exclusively for the student body, as parents were scheduled to attend the full concert on Tuesday evening at H.B. Thompson Middle School (HBT). The concert opened with the Orchestras: the Chamber Orchestra impressed the audience with the dynamic pieces "Shadowfire" and "Deep Sea Fandango," while the Advanced Orchestra delivered lively renditions of "Samba La Bamba," "Morning Lights," and "Ninja." Following the instrumentalists, the Senior Chorus performed a lovely set including "Fly Away Home," "Hear the Bells," and the crowd-pleaser "Rainbow Connection" by Kermit the Frog. The concert concluded with a memorable performance by the Senior Band, who entertained with "Donut Factory," the dramatic "Blizzard's Fury," and the innovative "Rebound," which famously featured some instruments playing along with bouncing basketballs. The atmosphere throughout the concert was one of pure delight, evidenced by the continuous sound of clapping and smiling from the appreciative student audience, showcasing the success and high spirits of the young musicians.
